Global labelling database - WFSGI Partners with Compliance & Risks for a one-stop requirements service

The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) partners with Compliance & Risks to launch the WFSGI Compliance Labelling Requirements (CLR) Database. This online tool will provide worldwide information on labelling requirements for the sporting goods industry, as well as other sectors facing the same challenges. Product categories include apparel and textile, footwear, consumer electronics (wearables), personal protective equipment, sporting equipment and bikes (including e-bikes).

With this intelligence companies avoid potential costly re-work, stop ships, product recalls, and ultimately revenue and brand damage.

The labelling database initiative is the result of a collaborative and pioneering effort among sporting goods companies. Interested parties experiencing issues with labelling their products, such as those from the fashion sector, are invited to join the project to benefit from significant economies of scale.

“We are all facing the same challenge of dealing with a blurry jungle of worldwide labelling information that demands considerable time, energy and cost for our industry. This unique online tool provided by Compliance & Risks, will substantially facilitate and revolutionise the daily business life for companies”, said Robbert de Kock, President & CEO of the WFSGI.

Commenting on the announcement, Joe Skulski, CEO of Compliance & Risks said, “We are delighted to partner with WFSGI to provide a unique, custom solution to address the needs of the sporting goods industry for labelling requirements. WFSGI has been working for 40 years to give a united voice to its members, leading innovative projects that have shaped the industry for the better. We look forward to working with them on this project.”

The database will be launched in July 2018 allowing users to search and report on up-to-date requirements by country. Additional benefits of the CLR Database include early warning signals of future regulatory changes, free access to subject matter experts, and easy reporting.

Companies that have already signed up are Asics, BMC Switzerland, Canyon Bicycles, Columbia Sportswear, IIC-INTERSPORT International Corporation, New Balance Athletics, Nike, Pentland Brands, Under Armour and VF Corporation.

The WFSGI CLR Database is powered by C2P, Compliance & Risks’ knowledge management platform. In addition to users being able to search and report on up-to-date labelling requirement by country, the WFSGI CLR Database provides alerts on new and proposed regulations and standards relevant to labelling, as well as information on changes to existing legislation. Within the database, users can get detailed information on these developments in an easy to understand format.
